TayPEOLC Non-Cancer Palliative Care Group
There is a wide range of specialities represented on the newest MCN group including neurology, renal and respiratory disease, heart failure, specialist palliative care, movement disorders, vascular disease, gastroenterology, learning disabilities and dementia.
Aim:
To act as a professional forum which supports improvements in the quality of palliative and end of life care for people with non-cancer conditions and their families.

Claire Douglas, Lead Consultant for Palliative Medicine in Perth & Kinross
Objectives:
- Bring experts together
- Facilitate improved communication and integration between different specialities and interested groups eg. other NHS Tayside MCNs
- Collaborate on projects with other groups
- Raise knowledge and awareness of non-cancer conditions, specific conditions within that and the needs of those patients
- Promote the idea and importance of palliative care in non-cancer disease
- Promote anticipatory care planning
- Link with TayPEOLC MCN Steering Group and Subgroups (End of Life Care, Pharmacy, Data & Audit, Education & Training and Research) utilising their collective knowledge and experience
- Build on existing work
- Increase understanding through education
- Facilitate information exchange both within the group and more widely to improve services and care pathways
- Influence senior management through a strong collective voice
The Non Cancer Palliative Care Group will meet 3 times a year and hold an annual workshop.
